3 dead, 3 injured in shooting near South Florida military base, police say

HOMESTEAD, Fla. / NBC6 — Three people were killed and three others were injured in an early morning shooting near a major Miami-Dade military base on Monday.

Shots were fired just before 2 a.m. inside an apartment complex near Southwest 126th Court and 282nd Street, close to the Homestead Air Reserve Base.

Three people were found dead at the scene, including both an adult female victim and child, police said.

The suspected shooter was also found dead after they committed suicide inside the complex, according to police.

Three other victims, including two children, were air rescued to an area hospital with one of the children in critical condition, NBC affiliate NBC6 South Florida reported. Police have not released the condition of the other two victims hospitalized or the identities of anyone involved.

The shooting looks to be domestic in nature, investigators said.
