3 dead including corrections officer in Miami-Dade grad party shooting
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Police are investigating a shooting that killed three after a graduation party in Southwest Miami-Dade early Sunday morning, NBC Miami reports.
The shooting happened at a strip mall parking lot and left three people dead including a corrections officers, according to the Miami Dade Police Department.
Police said the party took place in the parking lot when two cars, a dark colored Chevy Malibu and a white Toyota Camry, pulled in and started open firing.
Two of the deaths happened when the Malibu crashed into a wall at a nearby college campus, NBC Miami reports. A firearm was found in the vehicle, police said.
A female corrections officer with the state of Florida died a short time later after she was transported to a hospital, according to MDPD.
Several others were injured in the shooting, investigators said.
