Bear hit and killed on I-75 near Bonita Beach Road

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. – A bear was hit and killed on northbound I-75 near Bonita Beach Road on Friday morning.

Officials could be seen pulling the bear to the side of the road. The 23-year-old man driving was not injured in the crash, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The car was traveling down the road when a 200-pound bear tried to cross the interstate, according to FHP. The bear died at the scene.

The car sustained some under carriage damage and was towed from the scene.

The left and center lanes of the road were blocked as troopers responded to the crash, FHP reported.
