Body of missing teen found in Miami, police suspect foul play

MIAMI, Fla. [NBC6] – Police are investigating a death after the body of a missing 16-year-old girl was found on Sunday evening.

Family members identified the teen as Dayana Gomez Sanchez. City of Miami police officers were dispatched at around 5:20 p.m. to the 1200 block of Northeast 79th Street, near Pelican Harbor Marina, where they found the body.

Sanchez was last seen on Saturday leaving her home to go for a run around 6 p.m., according to police. She was reported missing around 8:30 p.m.

Police said they believe her death is suspicious, but they are waiting for the autopsy results.

Anyone with information, especially any witnesses who were out in the area that evening, should call Miami Police or Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
