DeSoto County infant youngest to die from COVID-19 in Florida

DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. [WPTV] – An infant under died from coronavirus in DeSoto County, the Florida Department of Health reported Tuesday.

The agency’s county report lists the child, with no sex given, as from DeSoto County, a population of 184,945. Ninety-five people have died from the virus in the county.

Twelve juveniles have died from COVID-19, according to the DOH.

Before the infant’s death, a 4-year-old girl from Hardee County was the youngest reported death in the state. She passed away in March.
