FDA: Pfizer vaccine can be stored at standard fridge temperatures up to 1 month

The FDA has authorized the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to be stored at standard refrigerator temperatures for up to one month, expanding the availability of the vaccine to doctors’ offices.

Since Pfizer is the only vaccine authorized for 12-17 years olds so far, it will allow more reasonable storage for pediatrician offices.

Based on recent data submitted by Pfizer on Wednesday, the FDA decided to authorize undiluted, thawed Pfizer vaccines to be stored in refrigerators at 35 degrees Fahrenheit to 46 degrees Fahrenheit.

Pharmacies, doctors’ offices, and mass vaccination centers will have greater flexibility in managing and maintaining vaccine distribution and supply.

According to the FDA, previously, thawed, undiluted vaccine vials could be stored in the refrigerator for up to five days.
