Forecast: Hot with a few storms for Memorial Day Weekend

It’s going to start feeling, looking and sounding a lot more like summer around here over the next few days and into next week, but the good news is we’ve got generally quiet and sunny weather on tap to begin your holiday weekend.

We’ll start out warmer and slightly more humid for your Friday morning with tons of sunshine in store through the day. A few areas of rain and even a storm will form this afternoon but mainly well east of I-75 across Hendry and Glades County.

Otherwise, expect another hot and sunny day with highs on track to reach the low to mid 90s.

Saturday and Sunday will play out very much the same with only a few inland storms during the afternoon, and an onshore flow from the gulf will help keep the stormy weather over the interior closer to Lake Okeechobee.

Things will start to change Memorial Day as we finally transition into a rainier pattern. Expect scattered storms to form Monday afternoon and evening, and this pattern won’t change much for the remainder of the week.

If you plan on doing some boating for the holiday weekend, boating conditions will work out nicely with mainly light winds in the morning and only a moderate breeze during the afternoon. Storms will stay away from the coast Saturday and Sunday, but keep an eye to the sky Monday with more storms developing near the coast.
