Forecast: Hot with limited rain chances Wednesday
We’ve got the summer heat, but our summertime storms will be fairly limited today with just a few isolated showers and storms developing by the mid to late afternoon.
Temperatures will toasty again as daytime highs touch the mid-90s from 1 to 4 p.m. If you’re lucky enough to see one of those isolated showers, the rain-cooled air will drop temperatures quickly for some of us.
Rain chances today will run around 20-30% with coast locations in line to see the best opportunity for a shower or storm.
Don’t expect any big changes to the forecast Thursday and Friday. Expect sunny, hot days with highs in the low to mid-90s along with a few isolated showers and storms in the afternoon.
This weekend, a shift in wind direction will push most of the afternoon storms deeper inland near Lake Okeechobee and Clewiston.
Otherwise, expect a fairly quiet weekend with daytime highs on track to reach the low 90s.
In the tropics, we’re still tracking a low chance of tropical development over the next five days in the southwestern Caribbean, but the current odds of development have dropped to 20% as of early Wednesday morning.
Currently there are no tropical threats to Southwest Florida.
