Forecast: Staying windy and dry Friday

NBC2 Fire Alert extended through Saturday

Our windy weather pattern continues today, and combined with the hot dry air this afternoon, the fire danger remains very high for Southwest Florida.

The change in the overall fire danger today is the air will be slightly less humid, which makes it more comfortable outside but also elevates the fire danger.

The NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Team continues the FIRE ALERT today and Saturday.

The vast majority of brush fires are man made, so be sure to keep doing what you can to lessen the chance of something starting. Don’t park cars over grassy surfaces, use caution on ATVs, tie up chains on trucks, properly extinguish cigarettes and use care when grilling and doing lawn work like lawn mowing.

Aside from the fire threat, it’s going to be another comfortable breezy day with temperatures on track to reach the upper 80s to lower 90s with no rain in the forecast.

Tonight’s forecast will be another beauty thanks to the breeze and lower humidity. Temperatures will drop into the mid to upper 60s overnight into Saturday morning.

The winds will start to relax this weekend with the best beach weather expected Sunday.
