Labelle man dies, two others seriously injured in Tice crash

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A 30-year-old Labelle man died in a two car crash on Buckingham Road on Tuesday evening, officials said.

Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a two car crash near Park Road around 7:30 p.m.

The Labelle man was driving north on Buckingham Road and a 57-year-old Fort Myers man was driving south on Buckingham Road with a 60-year-old Fort Myers woman. Both drivers were in a pickup truck.

The 30-year-old went to pass other vehicles in a no-passing zone near a curve in the road, troopers said. When the Fort Myers man’s pickup came around the bend, they slammed into each other head-on.

The Labelle man’s truck burst into flames as a result of the crash and he was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

The Fort Myers man and woman both suffered serious injuries and were taken to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Troopers are still investigating the crash.
