Mother pleads for help after losing son’s ashes in Southwest Florida

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – A mother is asking for the public’s help after she lost a pendant containing her son’s ashes in the Southwest Florida area.

Estela Diaz, a grieving mother is desperately trying to recover a pouch that contained her credit cards, social security card, and most importantly her son’s ashes.

“I woke up Friday morning and I was with my grandson. I asked him what he wanted to do for the day. We went garage selling and at that time I had a pouch that I had my personal belongings which included my sons cremation ashes,” said Diaz.

Diaz and her grandson started their day in Cape Coral along Del Prado and Chiquita Blvd and worked their way to Lehigh Acres, but when they got home they quickly realized the four-leaf clover charm that contained her son’s ashes — was gone.

“I feel empty without it. I can’t sleep and I just wonder where it’s at. I carry him everywhere I go. I feel close to him — he was my last born, he died of a lot of health problems, heart failure, kidney failure, lupus, so there was no hope for him. He ended up passing three years ago,”

Diaz and her family turned to social media for help in hopes that her sons ashes are returned soon.

“I’m hoping that there’s someone out there that has a good heart that would turn it in. I just want him back home. It’s heart shaped, they’re green emeralds and it has his name in the back,” said Diaz.

If you have any information — you can contact Estela Diaz through Facebook, or drop it off to the police department.
