Naples Beach Hotel lawsuit delaying development
COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — The Naples Beach Hotel looks different with no trespassing signs and caution tape surrounding the hotel.
The hotel is closed and development is paused due to a new lawsuit, which could delay improvements for even longer.
Gregory Myers filed the suit at the end of May. He lives on Gulf Shore Boulevard and said that his property rights have been violated.
Myers doesn’t technically own the land, but claims to have an interest in it.
In the suit, Myers claims that he has a right to an unobstructed view of the Gulf of Mexico. He also wants no changes to the current golf course.
The buyers of the hotel and the land it’s on, The Athens Group, wants to build a five-star resort with condos. It’s expected to become a Four Seasons.
NBC2 reached out to The Athens Group for a statement, but have not heard back.
