President and First Lady Biden release tax returns, continuing tradition

NBC NEWS— President and First Lady Biden released their 2020 tax returns on Monday.

In a statement announcing their release, the White House said Biden was “continuing an almost uninterrupted tradition.” The statement noted that Biden has now released 23 years of his tax returns, NBC News reported.

The Biden’s made a little over $600,000 in 2020 and paid $157,414 in federal income tax, according to the released return. They also paid $28,794 in income tax on their Delaware home.

The first couple releasing their tax returns started with Richard Nixon and continued until Donald Trump was in office, as reported by NBC News.

Trump said he would release his returns after the IRS completed their audit of his finances.

Presidents and vice presidents have mandatory annual audits, a tradition that started after Watergate.

The Biden’s donated $30,704 to 10 different charities.
