Store owner dead after shooting in Arcadia
ARCADIA, Fla. – Residents in an Arcadia neighborhood are looking over their shoulders after a shooting leaves a corner store owner dead.
Neighbors said the shooting happened at the Fiesta Food Mart on Magnolia Street around 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
A suspect went into the store shooting and killing the store’s owner, Saleh Ahmed, who was working at the time, according to neighbors. The suspect then left the store.
Autumn Sanchez said she was returning home Friday when she noticed the crime scene tape and cop lights surrounding the corner store.
“I saw cops coming out of the little wooded area there looking for something, apparently they were looking for somebody,” said Sanchez.
Sanchez said Ahmed was well-liked around the area by people who visited his store.
“When you go in there, you expect a smile, a laugh, a joke, or something, now you won’t even get that out of that,” said Sanchez.
Others like Marvin Dennis said Ahmed was a “good guy,” who would help anyone if he could.
With no suspect in custody, Dennis said he’s double-checking his door locks at night in hopes the suspect doesn’t come back to the area.
“Don’t know whether it’s going to be my neighbors door next or my door,” said Dennis.
The Arcadia Police Department has not confirmed any details about the shooting. They wouldn’t say what led up to the shooting, a motive or if they have any suspects in mind.
