CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A 2-year-old died four days after he was found floating facedown in his family’s swimming pool in Cape Coral on May 7, officials said. An investigation report from the Cape Coral Police Department recounts the day where the toddler got out of the house and drowned in the pool. His parent told investigators that the 2-year-old was eating a hot dog and grapes and asked to go swimming on Friday night. They told the boy no and said that he needed to finish eating his dinner. Cape Coral coming up with plan to keep algae out of canals this summer

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Water in Cape Coral canals is mostly clear now, but in the summer of 2018 it was filled with green gunk. The City of Cape Coral is working on a plan if algae begins to cover canals this summer. Blue-green algae has been spotted in other areas of Lee County much earlier than normal, which is concerning. This week, the city will be coordinating with Florida and Lee County agencies to come up with a game plan just in case harmful blooms return. Officers looking for missing & endangered man in Cape Coral

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Officers are searching for a man that went missing in Cape Coral on Monday afternoon. Russel Andrew Devane, 31, was last seen Monday around 1:30 driving a 2013 brown Dodge Ram with Florida Handicap tag ZK15R. He is considered to be missing and endangered, officers with the Cape Coral Police Department said. Devane is a white man, 5’11”, 165lbs, with brown hair and brown eyes. Shooting investigation underway in Cape Coral

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Police were investigating a shooting near the 4400 block of Santa Barbara Boulevard South in Cape Coral early Sunday morning. Officers with the Cape Coral Police Department shut down Santa Barbara Boulevard just after 6 a.m. as they investigated the shooting. Santa Barbara Boulevard has since reopened.
