CAPTIVA ISLAND, Fla. – A red tide bloom has been found near South Seas Plantation Beach access on Captiva. The Florida Department of Health in Lee County said some may have mild and short-lived respiratory symptoms such as eye, nose, and throat irritation similar to cold symptoms. People with breathing problems such as asthma might experience more severe symptoms. Symptoms usually go away after heading inside or leaving the area, according to local health officials.
