Kings Highway construction could cause delays in Charlotte County through June 23

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — Motorists in Charlotte County might notice some delays until June 23. Construction is happening in the southbound Kings Highway from Midway Boulevard to Olean Boulevard every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Warning signs for the construction will be posted, so plan ahead if you’re traveling through the area. Charlotte County boy burned by scalding hot water flown to hospital

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – An 18-month-old boy was flown to a Tampa hospital after being burned by scalding hot water in Charlotte County. The incident happened around 11:40 a.m. Thursday at a Rotonda West home on Broadmore Lane, according to Charlotte County Fire and EMS. Crash damages gas line, forces some evacuations in Punta Gorda

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — About 22 Punta Gorda homes had to be evacuated after a car crash on US 41 damaged a gas line Wednesday night, officials said. Two cars collided on US 41 near Acline Road around 8:30 p.m. A car involved in the crash swerved off the road and ran over a pressurized natural gas main. The damaged line started spewing out natural gas and was making a noise that sounded similar to a jet engine, rescue crews with Charlotte County Fire & EMS said. Closed Charlotte County hockey rink may reopen after two years

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – Kids in Charlotte County have been shut out of a park rink for two years. Now thanks to one organization, the county is going to fix and reopen the amenity. Pickup truck sparks brush fire in Charlotte County

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – A pickup truck caught fire Tuesday afternoon sparking a nearly half an acre brush fire in Charlotte County. According to the Charlotte County Fire Department, the truck caught fire while the driver was taking a lunch break and clearing brush along a fence line.
