Abandoned dogs found near Clewiston canal with zip ties on their tails

CLEWISTON, Fla.– A good Samaritan makes a disturbing discovery in Clewiston after finding five dogs abandoned near a canal on Wednesday morning. Jamie Wright and Amanda Nelson, who work for the Clewiston Animal Control, said they rushed to Evergreen and Art Lawrence roads in a rural part of Clewiston searching for the puppies. “They dumped a bag of puppy chow and that was it. Clewiston High School teacher’s discovery leads to fitting memorial for fallen hero

CLEWISTON, Fla. – Crystal Drake was working as a substitute teacher inside a classroom at Clewiston High School when an old plaque caught her attention.  The plaque was a memorial for Lee Ford, who graduated from the school in 1966. CLEWISTON, Fla. – One person died in a crash involving a semi-truck in Clewiston on Thursday. The crash involving a car and the semi happened on Flaghole Road and US 27, according to Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers are reporting that there was a complete roadblock on Flaghole Road. CLEWISTON, Fla. – The State Attorney’s office concluded the Clewiston school principal recorded on video in April hitting a first-grade student with a paddle did not commit a crime. On Friday afternoon, the state attorney released a statement that said after reviewing evidence and documents, no crime was committed by Principal Melissa Carter of Central Elementary School. Kids found shot outside Clewiston Subway, 4-year-old dead

CLEWISTON, Fla.– Two children were found shot inside a car outside of a Subway restaurant off Burner Road. The Clewiston Police Department received a call about the incident around 2:45 pm on Friday. Both children, a 4-year-old and a 5-year-old, were rushed to Hendry Regional Hospital. The 4-year-old child died from their injuries. The 5-year-old child was airlifted to a trauma center for treatment. The Hendry County Sheriff’s Office assisted with crowd control at the hospital. Gator goes for a swim in Clewiston pool

HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. – This little alligator had the right idea for a Friday — take a dip in some cool water! Unfortunately, he messed with the wrong chill zone, jumping into a Clewiston pool — where humans, not gators, swim. Good for the homeowner, Hendry County Lieutenant Matt Beatty was able to capture the little guy safely and release it back into Lake Okeechobee. Clewiston vaccination site welcomes walk-ins Thursday

HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. — People ages 18+ who need to get their coronavirus vaccine can get their shot in Hendry County. Walk-ins for the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine will be accepted on Thursday, April 8.
