LEE COUNTY, Fla.– Islands are disappearing from the Caloosahatchee River.
Lee County Commissioner, Frank Mann, wants to change that. He’s lived on the water in Alva for 25 years and is worried by what he sees on the river.
“This is more than just political to me.” he said. “This is my life.”
The commissioner is calling on people to take care of their property. Some land is owned by the county but some is privately owned land.
Areas along the river are eroding as boats drive by and send large wakes smashing into the banks.
