Two green sea turtles released after recovering from red tide poisoning

SANIBEL, Fla. – Two juvenile green sea turtles have been recovering at a local wildlife hospital over the past few weeks. The turtles were rescued near Everglades City with suspected red tide poisoning, according to the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation. The turtles were released back into the water. SCCF said its monitoring five green sea turtle nests on Sanibel and 330 loggerhead nests on both islands. FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. – Fort Myers Beach is gearing up for its annual Fourth of July firework celebration. According to officials with Fort Myers Beach, the show begins at 9 p.m. and is expected to last for 20 minutes. TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The body of a missing Hillsborough County woman in her 30s was found burning in the woods near the Sunshine Skyway bridge Wednesday night. LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A lack of rain this year has led to a lack of a lovebug season, according to experts. Driver seriously injured after dump truck flips on SR 82 in Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – A driver was seriously injured after a dump truck hauling gravel flipped on SR 82 in Collier County Thursday morning. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed SR 82 is closed in both directions near Gator Slough Road due to the rollover crash. Firefighters find sinking boat near Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Firefighters rescued a person from sinking boat back to land in Fort Myers early Thursday morning. The Fort Myers Fire Department said its crews responded around 12:47 a.m. to a watercraft distress. It was reported that the boat lost power and was taking on water near I-75 and SR 31. The boater was found and no injuries were reported, according to fire crews. The boat was without plugs and FMFD helped tow it to downtown at the Yacht Basin.
