FGCU invites 2020 graduates back for in-person Grad Walk

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University is inviting its 2020 graduates to come back for a Grad Walk. The Grad Walk for the Class of 2020 will be held on the first weekend in August at Alico Arena, according to FGCU. The university said the Spring 2021 Grad Walk was a success, and they wanted to offer a similar opportunity for the graduates to return and mark the milestome – this time in-person. FGCU researchers come closer to installing artificial reef in Gulf

SOUTHWEST FLORIDA – Florida Gulf Coast University researchers are getting closer to installing an artificial reef in the Gulf of Mexico. They’ve already been approved by the state to put 18 concrete culverts 30 feet below the surface. Researchers have 11 acres of land they can use about eight miles off the coast of Wiggins Pass. Old Castle Cement Industries donated the large structures. Once underwater, they will become a fish habitat. Dr. Mike Parsons is a marine science professor at FGCU. FGCU seniors given personal graduation ceremony

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University is putting the final touches on its graduation ceremony. Around 1,900 students will graduate this spring, although this year’s commencement will be a little different than the rest. Instead of filling the Alico Arena on campus with friends and family, the university opted to go with a personal ceremony for each graduating senior, accompanied by four members of their family.  Each student got a chance to walk across a stage and were congratulated by college administrators virtually.
