FORT MYERS, Lee County – Fort Myers police responded to a shooting near a home on the corner of Fountain and C Streets. FMPD said they’re responding to gunfire in the area. They said no one was injured, and no homes were hit. At least 10 shell casings can be seen on the ground. Several people were in the area at the time, and FMPD is asking anyone with information to come forward. The scene of the investigation has since cleared. FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Fort Myers Police Department gave ABC7 an inside look at their new state-of-the-art training tool for officers: virtual reality simulations. Lieutenant Jason Pate is a 26-year veteran police officer but he is continuing to learn. The new technology helping him and his officers avoid using lethal force. “They really get to develop de-escalation skills, de-escalation techniques,” said Lt.
