FMPD surrounds home after shooting

FORT MYERS, Lee County – Fort Myers police responded to a shooting near a home on the corner of Fountain and C Streets. FMPD said they’re responding to gunfire in the area. They said no one was injured, and no homes were hit. At least 10 shell casings can be seen on the ground. Several people were in the area at the time, and FMPD is asking anyone with information to come forward. The scene of the investigation has since cleared. Man killed during shooting at Central Avenue

FORT MYERS, Fla.– Fort Myers Police Officers responded to a shooting at 2475 Central Avenue on June 1st. Police found a locked blue Ford SUV with a man shot inside, when they arrived. Officials broke the drivers side window to open the door and found Montrell Amari O’Neal inside. He had a large gunshot wound on his forehead, according to police. O’Neal was pronounced dead at the scene. While investigating, officers found a black Toyota Camry and a white Toyota Sequoia with bullet holes in the area. FORT MYERS, Fla. – A Fort Myers police officer is back on leave following allegations of misconduct. The Fort Myers Police Department said an internal investigation has started Wednesday into misconduct allegations committed by Officer Jason Jackson. FMPD Chief Derrick Diggs said the FBI provided information to the department after conducting a lengthy investigation of Officer Jackson and three former officers. At least 9 Fort Myers auto shops burglarized between May and June

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Nine auto dealerships and repair shops have been targeted in the West District of the City of Fort Myers between May 1 and June 1, according to police. More than 20 vehicles were burglarized and two cars were stolen. Several businesses along Fowler Street and Cleveland Avenue have reported stolen cars and burglaries, like RNS Automotive, which was hit on May 21. Man killed in early morning Fort Myers shooting

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A man was shot and killed inside a car off of Royal Palm Avenue in Fort Myers just after midnight on Tuesday, officials said. Shot spotters in the area detected a gunshot in the area of Franklin Street and Central Avenue, police with the Fort Myers Police Department said. Officers are investigating at 2475 Central Avenue. Fire tears through SUV at Fort Myers gas station

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A fire ripped through an SUV at a Fort Myers gas station Sunday afternoon. Fire crews responded to the blaze just after 1 p.m. at the RaceTrac gas station at 5150 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, according to the Fort Myers Police Department. 7 children, 4 adults rushed to the hospital after Fort Myers crash

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Seven children and four adults were injured in a crash on US 41 near Island Park Road in Fort Myers. The South Trail Fire Department confirmed everyone injured in the crash is being taken to local hospitals. Four of the children do have serious injuries, two have non-life-threatening injuries, and one has minor injuries. Detectives search for Target thief who nabbed over $2K in electronics

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Authorities are searching for a man who stole thousands worth of electronics from the same Fort Myers Target store at least two times in May. The man pictured stole electronics from the Target at Gulf Coast Town Center on May 15 and again on May 24, according to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers. On May 15 the suspect made off with $1,157 worth of electronics while sporting a blue polo.
