LaBelle City Hall closes after staff member tests positive for COVID-19

LABELLE, Fla. – LaBelle City Hall closed Thursday after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19. City Hall closed out of an abundance of caution at around 12 p.m., LaBelle’s City FInance Director Ron Zimmerly confirmed. The city said they will open back up on Monday, May 24. FDA: Pfizer vaccine can be stored at standard fridge temperatures up to 1 month

The FDA has authorized the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to be stored at standard refrigerator temperatures for up to one month, expanding the availability of the vaccine to doctors’ offices. Since Pfizer is the only vaccine authorized for 12-17 years olds so far, it will allow more reasonable storage for pediatrician offices. Based on recent data submitted by Pfizer on Wednesday, the FDA decided to authorize undiluted, thawed Pfizer vaccines to be stored in refrigerators at 35 degrees Fahrenheit to 46 degrees Fahrenheit. DeSoto County infant youngest to die from COVID-19 in Florida

DESOTO COUNTY, Fla. [WPTV] – An infant under died from coronavirus in DeSoto County, the Florida Department of Health reported Tuesday. The agency’s county report lists the child, with no sex given, as from DeSoto County, a population of 184,945. Ninety-five people have died from the virus in the county. Twelve juveniles have died from COVID-19, according to the DOH. Before the infant’s death, a 4-year-old girl from Hardee County was the youngest reported death in the state. She passed away in March. CDC official on mask-wearing: Unvaccinated people need to be honest with themselves

WASHINGTON / CNN — The director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Sunday that people have to be honest with themselves when deciding whether to wear a mask after the agency lifted requirements for vaccinated people.
