Hurricane season in Florida will officially begin in a week but tens of thousands of homeowners are learning that their insurance company is cancelling their policies. ‘Ana’ expected to form in the Atlantic

The NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Tracking Team continues to monitor an area of low pressure in the Atlantic, which is showing signs of becoming better organized and could develop into Subtropical Storm Ana in the next two days. The area to watch is currently a non-tropical system about 800 miles east of Bermuda. The National Hurricane Center now gives the system a 70% chance of developing in the next two days and a 90% chance of developing in the next 5 days. First Area to watch in the tropics for 2021

And so it begins! The NBC2 First Alert Hurricane Team is tracking the first area of interest in the Atlantic Basin for the 2021 Hurricane Season, less than two weeks before the official start. The area to watch is a non-tropical area of low pressure currently northeast of Bermuda, and only has a 20% chance for development over the next five days. If it does manage to develop into an area to watch, it will be a subtropical system, and remain out to sea. If it strengthens enough into a Subtropical Storm, the first name on the list is Ana.
