Man accused of torching Lehigh Family Dollar won’t face charges

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – The man accused of torching a Lehigh Acres Family Dollar in February won’t face charges for the crime. The State Attorney’s Office said there is not enough evidence to charge Josue Vazquez-Reyes with crimes related to the fire, which investigators said was the result of arson. Vazquez-Reyes is a former employee of the Family Dollar that was burned down. Lee County deputies had said Vazquez called 911 to report the fire. Lehigh Acres crews respond to propane grill fire

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.– Lehigh crews responded to a grill fire on Tuesday afternoon. Officials said the fire started from a propane tank on the patio of the home, off 19th Street Southwest. The flames did not spread to the house. No one was injured during the incident. Lehigh Acres Fire Control posted a reminder on their social media, cautioning people that “grills should be set up away from your home or other structures just in case something unexpected occurs”. At least one injured in Lehigh Acres canal crash

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — At least one person was injured when a sport utility vehicle crashed into a canal in Lehigh Acres early Friday morning. Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash. NBC2 crews at the scene said the SUV that crashed into a canal near Sunshine Boulevard North and Nancy Drive was sinking into the water and had bubbles coming up from under the vehicle. The SUV was headed the wrong direction on Sunshine Boulevard before it ended up in the canal and at least one person was injured, troopers said. Fire crews respond to three brush fires in Lehigh Acres

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – Firefighters responded to three separate brush fires in Lehigh Acres Sunday. According to the Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District, crews responded to brush fires at 7753 3rd Place & Wheeler Rd. near the Hendry County line, another at 68th Street W and Joan Ave., and a third at Unice Ave. N and 7th St. Firefighters said the brush fire on Wheeler Rd. burned around 12-acres of land total and destroyed a shed, but crews were able to protect 12 homes in the area. Lehigh Acres gator trapper wrangles gators two days in a row

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla.– A gator made itself at home at a Lehigh Acres community on Friday.  The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission got a call after the four-foot gator made its way from under a car to the back porch of a home.  “I was actually just looking out my back porch and I seen him walking across the yard and I was like ‘Oh, that’s a gator,’” said Mackenzie Marinell.
