FMPD surrounds home after shooting

FORT MYERS, Lee County – Fort Myers police responded to a shooting near a home on the corner of Fountain and C Streets. FMPD said they’re responding to gunfire in the area. They said no one was injured, and no homes were hit. At least 10 shell casings can be seen on the ground. Several people were in the area at the time, and FMPD is asking anyone with information to come forward. The scene of the investigation has since cleared. Man killed during shooting at Central Avenue

FORT MYERS, Fla.– Fort Myers Police Officers responded to a shooting at 2475 Central Avenue on June 1st. Police found a locked blue Ford SUV with a man shot inside, when they arrived. Officials broke the drivers side window to open the door and found Montrell Amari O’Neal inside. He had a large gunshot wound on his forehead, according to police. CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – A scary situation for a Charlotte County mother in a Lyft ride with her children ended up just being a case of miscommunication, deputies said. The mother had been taking a Lyft to Fort Myers to pick up her vehicle from the shop with her two children on Monday when she claimed her driver had started to ignore his GPS directions. Driver seriously injured after dump truck flips on SR 82 in Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – A driver was seriously injured after a dump truck hauling gravel flipped on SR 82 in Collier County Thursday morning. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed SR 82 is closed in both directions near Gator Slough Road due to the rollover crash. Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and said troopers believe the dump truck was the one vehicle involved. Firefighters find sinking boat near Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Firefighters rescued a person from sinking boat back to land in Fort Myers early Thursday morning. The Fort Myers Fire Department said its crews responded around 12:47 a.m. to a watercraft distress. It was reported that the boat lost power and was taking on water near I-75 and SR 31. The boater was found and no injuries were reported, according to fire crews. The boat was without plugs and FMFD helped tow it to downtown at the Yacht Basin. Collier officials urging the use of bear-resistant trash cans as populations grow

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Bears are on the move and have appeared all over Southwest Florida this week. Florida’s black bear population continues to grow. There are an estimated 1,000 bears in South Florida living in the conservation areas of Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades National Park, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. SOUTHWEST FLORIDA – The Florida Department of Transportation is asking residents to participate in a survey to help make Southwest Florida roadways safer for walking and biking. Water advisory issued in Cape Coral, officials consider one-day watering schedule

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Cape Coral city officials are asking residents to do their part in water conservation. A new advisory has been put in place as canal levels in the city continue to sink. If people don’t pay attention to how much water they use and conditions don’t improve, the city will mandate a one-day watering schedule. More than 4,000 illegal watering violations have been issued since the start of dry season. High usage and illegal watering contribute to decreased irrigation pressures.
