FORT MYERS, Fla. — More and more people are getting vaccinated from the coronavirus every single day. That means getting life back to normal, and for many, back to work.  But can your employer ask if you got your vaccine? Or even more, can your work require you to get a shot?  “Yes,” says Attorney Lance Dunford, a partner at the Law Firm of Scott T. Moorey. “The simple answer is yes.” Employers can even go as far as to see your vaccine card, despite Gov. Ron DeSantis’ executive order against vaccine passports.  “What’s on this vaccination card does not give any...

Historians tell tale of Calusa Indian ghost that roams Pine Island

PINE ISLAND, Fla. – There’s nothing like a good ghost story or urban legend, made even better when rooted in real history. A legend on Pine island, that involves the native Calusa tribe has people talking.  Pine Island Florida is known for being remote, and somewhat hard to get to. In the quiet fishing town, mounds dot the otherwise flat Pineland landscape. Those mounds indicate who used to live there. “Right here at Pineland, this was the 2nd largest town for the Calusa people when Europeans arrived in the 1500s,” said Cindy Bear, from the Randall Research...

FORT MYERS SHORES, Fla. – The water in a Fort Myers Shores canal has turned a shade of green due to blue-green algae. The green stuff can be seen coming down the Caloosahatchee.  “It’s surprising this early in the year to already have that. I’m used to it usually around August but in May? That’s kind of scary,” said boater Shaun Torrente. “I come to this dock 2-3 times a week because we’re usually messing with boats and stuff.  I got here today and it was just completely green.” Boaters say last week there wasn’t any algae in at the Davis Boat Ramp...
