Lee County officials to accept millions for homelessness relief

LEE COUNTY, Fla.– The Lee County Board of Commissioners will vote if they will accept different state and federal grants on the morning of June 15. Lee County officials are set to accept over $3 million dollars for homelessness relief. All of the funds will go towards housing and resources for homeless citizens in the county. Homicide investigation underway after missing Florida woman’s body found burning

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) – The body of a missing Hillsborough County woman in her 30s was found burning in the woods near the Sunshine Skyway bridge Wednesday night. Experts say lack of rain leads to less lovebugs this season

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A lack of rain this year has led to a lack of a lovebug season, according to experts. FGCU Entomologist Dr. Joyce Fassbender said that lovebugs’ big season is typically from the middle of April until about the middle to the end of May. “Their young actually require really moist soils in order for the eggs to develop, for the larvae to develop, and then for them to become adults,” said Dr. Fassbender. “If we have a drought or just a really dry, late spring, then they’re not going to be able to do that.” That’s what we’ve...

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — The identity of a murder victim has been revealed 27 years after their death thanks to modern DNA technology. The victim who was known for years as John Doe #1 has now been identified as Gerald (Jerry) Lombard. Man killed during shooting at Central Avenue

FORT MYERS, Fla.– Fort Myers Police Officers responded to a shooting at 2475 Central Avenue on June 1st. Police found a locked blue Ford SUV with a man shot inside, when they arrived. Officials broke the drivers side window to open the door and found Montrell Amari O’Neal inside. He had a large gunshot wound on his forehead, according to police. CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – A scary situation for a Charlotte County mother in a Lyft ride with her children ended up just being a case of miscommunication, deputies said. ROYAL PALM BEACH, Fla. — Three people with gunshot wounds were found dead inside a Publix Supermarket in Royal Palm Beach, officials said. Deputies with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the shooting that left one adult male, one adult female, and one child dead inside the Publix in the 1100 block of Royal Palm Beach Boulevard. Driver seriously injured after dump truck flips on SR 82 in Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – A driver was seriously injured after a dump truck hauling gravel flipped on SR 82 in Collier County Thursday morning. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed SR 82 is closed in both directions near Gator Slough Road due to the rollover crash.
