TULSA, Oklahoma – When Robert Titsworth opened his front door on Monday, he got the surprise of his life.
At his door was his cousin, Christine Riley, and Erin Faith Allen of Purple Harts Reunited. They had brought the Purple Heart of his uncle — Thomas Dowda, a World War II paratrooper — killed in action in 1945.
The Purple Heart had been lost over time after being passed from family member to family member, Titsworth, a veteran himself, said.
