Two of the areas best players put team first this spring

NAPLES, Fla.– The Spring football season is in full swing in Southwest Florida with everyone preparing for the fall. Two of the areas top players have continued to earn an impressive list of scholarship offers while focusing on the team.

For every coach and player, it feels great to be back out on the field after missing out on the spring season in 2020.

“Oh yeah I was very thankful because I mean just getting away from the game you can get a little rusty not having that full equipment on,” Naples senior cornerback Devin Moore said.

If you step out onto the practice field at Naples or Bishop Verot, you’ll spot a pair of quarterback nightmares – lockdown corners Devin Moore from Naples and Chris Graves from Bishop Verot.

“He takes away the other teams best guy. I am confident to say he can cover anybody in the country,” Naples defensive coordinator Cliff Greer said.

Bishop Verot head coach, John Mohring feels similarly.

“I think every defensive coach wants that backside corner that can just lock down half of the field and he does that,” Mohring said.

According to recruiting services, Rivals and 247 Sports, the duo are the top two players in the area and might as well be twins.

Both players are listed at six foot-two inches, both 180 pounds and both with an impressive list of suitors that includes Alabama, LSU, Stanford, Miami, Notre Dame and many more.

“It is nice. You have to enjoy it, I mean I’m still a kid so I am still enjoying it but it’s all a business to me,” Bishop Verot senior cornerback, Chris Graves said.

“It definitely gets a little overwhelming sometimes but you can’t let it get to your head too much. But it’s definitely a blessing,” Moore said.

Maybe the most essential similarity they share is their mentality and approach to the spring.

“Just being a leader on this team. I mean you have to bring it every day for the young guys you have to be that example they need,” Moore said.

“I have to prove something every day to show the young guys that I am a hard worker. I just stay on them and make sure they’re doing their thing,” Graves said.

Taking the future of the 239 under their wings so they can have some company on Saturdays.

“This area you know we might not be the most known or any of that but we definitely have some gems down here,” Moore said.

If you if you are curious to know where these gems are going they won’t make their college decision until later this year but will begin taking visits in June.
