Cape Coral pulling the plug on trash drop-off sites
CAPE CORAL, Fla. — After months of delays and frustrated residents, Waste Pro operations in Cape Coral are finally getting back on schedule.
City officials have decided to shutdown the drop-off sites that were created to help take a load off of Waste Pro, who was understaffed.
Friday, June 4, and Saturday, June 5, are your last days to drop-off trash at the remaining two locations at Cultural Park and City Hall.
The Cultural Park site will be open from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday and the City Hall site will be open from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday. After that, all sites will be closed for good.
Part of the reason for closing the drop-off sites is due to people from outside the city using and abusing the sites.
A spokesperson for Cape Coral said that they still plan on hosting quarterly drop-off events at City Hall. Count on NBC2 to let you know when those will be.
