Waste Pro’s pick up progress to be discussed at Cape Coral City Hall

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — The City of Cape Coral is expected to give an update on Waste Pro’s trash pick up progress today, June 9. Today’s update will be the first one since the City closed trash drop-off locations that were meant to help Waste Pro catch up on pick ups. Cape Coral pulling the plug on trash drop-off sites

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — After months of delays and frustrated residents, Waste Pro operations in Cape Coral are finally getting back on schedule. City officials have decided to shutdown the drop-off sites that were created to help take a load off of Waste Pro, who was understaffed. Friday, June 4, and Saturday, June 5, are your last days to drop-off trash at the remaining two locations at Cultural Park and City Hall. Waste Pro to update Cape Coral on trash pickup efficiency

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Waste Pro will be updating Cape Coral officials on its trash pickup efforts on Wednesday. The company missed nearly 1,200 pickups last month, but the city said that calls for missed pickups have since subsided. Trash pick up numbers for May are still in the works. Waste Pro blamed their bout of missed pick-ups on a lack of employees, so now they’re trying to hire more drivers to fix the mess that clogged curbs across the city. Waste Pro continues to hire new workers in an effort to get back on schedule

Waste Pro held a hiring event on Tuesday to fill multiple positions, including drivers, helpers and technicians.  Waste Pro Division Manager Bill Jones said 55 people attended the job fair, making it their most attended job fair in 2021. “We’re really making headway, we’re excited about that,” Jones said. “We are generally back on schedule.” Waste Pro has been working to hire more people after being understaffed and getting behind on bulk-item pickups in Cape Coral.
