Fort Myers police officer involved in Freeh Report back on leave

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A Fort Myers police officer is back on leave following allegations of misconduct. The Fort Myers Police Department said an internal investigation has started Wednesday into misconduct allegations committed by Officer Jason Jackson. FMPD Chief Derrick Diggs said the FBI provided information to the department after conducting a lengthy investigation of Officer Jackson and three former officers. Paint retailer hikes up prices as ‘demand remains strong’

Sherwin-Williams announced Tuesday that “demand remains strong” for its paint and other products, forcing the retailer to hike prices 7 percent beginning in August. The company blamed rising costs of raw materials for the price increases — a pandemic trend as consumers have changed their purchasing behavior and supply chains have gotten messed up around the world, CNN reports. Forecast: Hot with limited rain chances Wednesday

We’ve got the summer heat, but our summertime storms will be fairly limited today with just a few isolated showers and storms developing by the mid to late afternoon. More than 100 volunteers participate in Cape Coral burrowing owl census

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — The 2021 burrowing owl census in Cape Coral was completed over the weekend. More than 100 volunteers took time out of their day to do their part on Saturday. The results of the census are still being calculated, but preliminary numbers reveal that more than 2,000 owls were counted, according to the Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife. That’s roughly the same amount that was counted last year. This year’s census was the fourth in a five year study that is taking a closer look at burrowing owl population in the City. Two injured in four-car crash on Daniels Parkway

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Four vehicles, including a school bus, collided on Daniels Parkway near Palomino Lane on Wednesday morning. A box truck, van, SUV, and school bus were involved in the crash that briefly shut down eastbound traffic on Daniels Parkway. One lane of Daniels Parkway has been reopened. The driver of the van was seriously injured and the SUV driver was also injured. Both were taken to a nearby hospital. No children were on the bus at the time of the crash.
