FORT MYERS, Fla. – Career Source of Southwest Florida plans to help reacclimate thousands of people back into the workforce in the coming month. Federal unemployment benefits are set to run out at the end of June.  Until then people who continue to collect the $300 a week in federal funds must prove they’re looking for a job. Job search requirement resumes for Florida unemployment claims

FLORIDA – There are some big changes for people still collecting unemployment in Florida. For the last year since the pandemic, those collecting didn’t have to prove they were looking for work. In order to continue collecting unemployment those receiving benefits are going to have to work a little harder in fact they’ll have to prove that they are looking for a job and that means visiting places like Career Source which is expecting more people to start showing up and looking for work. Floridians to stop receiving federal unemployment in June

The state of Florida is stopping federal unemployment next month, meaning those receiving the extra $300 a week or $1200 a month will see the checks stop coming. Florida DEO to withdraw from federal unemployment program, ending $300 weekly payments

The Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) will be withdrawing from the Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation program, ending the $300 weekly supplemental unemployment payments for claimants. The withdrawal is effective June 26, 2021. The DEO released a statement on Monday saying the decision to end its participation in the program came after April’s labor statistics showed that total private-sector employment increased by 18,800 jobs and more than 460,000 online job postings became available throughout the state.
