COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — At least one person was injured in a crash on Interstate 75 in Collier County on Thursday night, officials said. Deputies with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office and rescue crews with the Greater Naples Fire Rescue responded to the crash near mile marker 107 on southbound I-75 just after 11 p.m. The driver ran from the crash scene and was later found at a Chase Bank in the Crossroads Market Plaza not too far from the crash. LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — At least one person was injured when a sport utility vehicle crashed into a canal in Lehigh Acres early Friday morning. Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the crash. NBC2 crews at the scene said the SUV that crashed into a canal near Sunshine Boulevard North and Nancy Drive was sinking into the water and had bubbles coming up from under the vehicle. The SUV was headed the wrong direction on Sunshine Boulevard before it ended up in the canal and at least one person was injured, troopers said. CAPE CORAL, Fla. – A man was rushed to the hospital after flipping his SUV on Hancock Bridge Parkway Wednesday afternoon. The man was driving east on Hancock with a juvenile passenger when he went to change lanes, hitting a van, according to Cape Coral police. In the aftermath of the crash, two off-duty nurses stepped in to aid the man trapped in his flipped-over SUV until emergency crews arrived. COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – Collier County deputies are responding to a shooting at a mobile home park on Dewey Court and San Marco Boulevard in Naples. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed they got a call around 10 p.m. for shots fire at Southwinds Mobile Home Park. No one was injured in the shooting, but deputies are still in the area investigating. CCSO said a helicopter that was already up from the brush fire in Golden Gate Estates swung over to help with the investigation. This is a developing story.

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Florida Gulf Coast University is inviting its 2020 graduates to come back for a Grad Walk. The Grad Walk for the Class of 2020 will be held on the first weekend in August at Alico Arena, according to FGCU. The university said the Spring 2021 Grad Walk was a success, and they wanted to offer a similar opportunity for the graduates to return and mark the milestome – this time in-person. Graduates in FGCU’s class of 2020 can complete a survey if interested by June 16. Click here for the survey.

NORTH PORT, Fla. – A missing African Grey parrot was reunited with its owner in North Port. The parrot named “Sierra” flew out the window of her owner’s North Port home on May 23, according to the North Port Police Department. Three days later and four miles away, a resident flagged down a North Port police officer. The officer found the bird and had originally seen a Facebook post about a missing bird.
Owner Dan Barry and Sierra were reunited by the officer.
