Cape Coral police warn of scammer offering to replace LCEC power meters

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – A scammer claiming to represent “Atlantic Key Energy” has been going up to homeowners in Cape Coral.

The Cape Coral Police Department said the scammer is targeting people in-person rather than over the phone.

They have said to homeowners that Lee County Electric Cooperative will replace their power meter and install solar panels on their house within a month.

Officers said this is a red flag because LCEC does not use third party companies to remove power meters or contact you in person.

Any residents who have had this happen to them is asked to call LCEC and CCPD.
