Blue-green algae bloom found at Franklin Locks on Caloosahatchee River

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Blue-green algae was found at Franklin Locks on the Caloosahatchee River, according to health officials. The Florida Department of Health in Lee County has issued a Health Alert for the harmful blue-green agal toxins detected in the area. A water sample taken on June 1 found the toxins. Everyone in the area should use caution in and around the Caloosahatchee River near the Franklin Locks, local health officials said. Gladiolus Food Pantry needs your help stocking up for summer

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Food pantries are in need of donations as summer rolls around. A lot of kids who rely on free lunches during the school year will now be at home, sometimes unsure when their next meal will be. To help alleviate hunger in the community, the Iona-McGregor Fire District has teamed up with the Gladiolus Food Pantry to help reel in food donations. Collier County schools to make face masks optional for students

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – Collier County students will have the choice to wear a mask at school starting this Summer. Collier County Public Schools will vote Tuesday to approve a resolution that starting this Summer, students will have the option to wear a face mask. Rescue crews respond to Fort Myers school bus crash

FORT MYERS, Fla. — At least one person was injured in a crash involving a school bus on Edison Avenue near Veronica S Shoemaker Avenue Friday morning, officials said. Rescue crews and officers with the Fort Myers Police Department responded to the scene just before 9:30 a.m. At least one person was taken into an ambulance on a stretcher.
