Man killed in early morning Fort Myers shooting

FORT MYERS, Fla. — A man was shot and killed inside a car off of Royal Palm Avenue in Fort Myers just after midnight on Tuesday, officials said. Shot spotters in the area detected a gunshot in the area of Franklin Street and Central Avenue, police with the Fort Myers Police Department said. Officers are investigating at 2475 Central Avenue. The man that was shot died at the scene and the suspect is on the run, police said. Deputies investigate shooting on Fort Myers Beach

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. – A large fight on Fort Myers Beach led to one shot being fired Monday afternoon, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. During a busy Memorial Day celebration on the beach, multiple people began fighting on the beachside of Avenue C before a shot rang out, deputies said. CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Neighbors in North West Cape Coral found a baby gator floating in the canal with its head and tail cut off. The man who found it said it didn’t look like the gator was attacked by another animal. It looked like the gator was cut with a sharp object like a knife. CAPE CORAL, Fla. – One person was injured in a shooting over the weekend, according to the Cape Coral Police Department. The shooting happened in the parking lot of the Santa Barbra Centre on Hancock Bridge Parkway sometime between late Friday and early Saturday, investigators said. Florida airport changes name after years of fighting over ‘Orlando’

(AP) — After years of fighting and litigation over who can include “Orlando” in the name of their central Florida airport, Orlando International Airport officials and Orlando Melbourne International Airport officials have tentatively agreed that Orlando Melbourne International Airport will change its name to Melbourne Orlando International Airport.
