Power pole falls & ignites brush fire in Collier County

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Fire crews with the Greater Naples Fire Rescue District & Florida Forest Service Caloosahatchee District Field District were fighting a fire on 16th Avenue NW just west of Wilson Boulevard West on Monday evening.

The fire started after a power pole fell and ignited surrounding brush.

A quick response from fire crews on the ground and in the sky helped save two homes that were threatened by the flames.

No injuries or property damage were reported and the fire burned less than half an acre of brush.
