Motorcyclist caught on camera riding hands-free on I-75

NAPLES, Fla. – The Florida Highway Patrol is warning people to drive safe and not distracted after a man was caught on camera riding a motorcycle north on I-75 from Naples without holding on to the handlebars.  Troopers said the video, which was filmed by a person in another vehicle also driving on I-75 also caused concern. They said drivers should drive holding on to the wheel or handlebars of their vehicle and should not drive distracted.  Lt. Gregory S. Naples crews respond to boat fire in marina

NAPLES, Fla.— Crews responded to a boat fire at The Power Squadron Marina on Monday evening. Naples Fire-Rescue contained the blaze to one vessel and put out the flames. The boat was tied to the dock, close to several others in the area. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Elusive bear spotted roaming around Naples area

NAPLES, Fla. – A bear who first was spotted roaming around Naples Friday morning has been seen all over Collier County since. The bear was last spotted at Doc’s Beach House Monday after being seen at the Ritz Carlton Saturday night.  Collier County deputies received a 911 Saturday call saying, “Calling from Ritz Carlton Beach Resort, we have a black bear that’s cornered in our front drive area right next to one of the golf storage rooms.”  Naples Police believe he swam over from Keewaydin Island and began traveling north.  The bear ended up exploring one...

Edison & Ford Winter Estates propose pedestrian safety measures for McGregor Blvd

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Edison and Ford Winter Estates sent a 17-page letter to the City of Fort Myers to keep pedestrians safe while crossing McGregor Blvd.  “The Edison has requested several issues to be considered. CLEWISTON, Fla. — The principal who was caught on camera paddling a student in April has filed a complaint against the child’s mother. Dognapper walks out of Fort Myers pet store with puppy hidden under his shirt

FORT MYERS, Fla.–Fort Myers police are searching for a man who stole a 9-week-old Shih Tzu. According to officials, the man walked into the Cleveland Avenue Pet Kingdom on Saturday evening. He then stuffed the puppy under his shirt and walked back out of the store. Police describe the dognapper as white with tattoos on his arms and a large build. He was last seen in a blue Florida Gator’s hat and a green shirt. He could be driving a white sedan with a paper tag, according to authorities.
