3-acre brush fire sparks in Golden Gate Estates

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – A 3 acre brush fire sparked on 24th Avenue near DeSoto Boulevard in Golden Gate Estates on Thursday. The Florida Forest Service and Greater Naples fire units are responding to the fire. FFS officials have confirmed it is currently 90 percent contained. Crews are working to put water on the fire. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is also assisting fire crews. No evacuations are in place near this brush fire. This is a developing story. Firefighters respond to car fire in Punta Gorda

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – Charlotte County firefighters battled a car fire on Highway 31 five miles south of Bermont Road Thursday morning. Highway 31 was closed for over an hour while crews worked to put out the fire and clean up, according to Charlotte County Fire and EMS. FORT MYERS, Fla. – Police are searching for a man who they described as having a “unique walk.” The suspect can be seen on surveillance video on May 21 taking long, flailing strides after allegedly stealing from the Auto Repair Shop at 2445 Concorde Drive in Fort Myers. ‘Critically low’ supply: Lee Health seeks blood donations

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The home of the region’s only trauma center is in desperate need of blood. According to Lee Health, its centers are in urgent need of donors, as blood supplies are “critically low.” Lee Health requires approximately 800 units of blood per week and supplies blood and blood products in the trauma center, to treat cancer patients, premature babies, anemia and a variety of other conditions. Antisemitic message found painted on the Florida Holocaust Museum

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. [WFLA] – A swastika and an antisemitic message were found painted on the side of the Florida Holocaust Museum, detectives said. St. Petersburg police, who are investigating the incident as a hate crime, said someone spray painted a swastika in black along with the message, “Jews are guilty.”  Officers say they spotted the graffiti along the 1st Avenue South side of the museum around 4 a.m. while patrolling the area, WFLA reported. Cape Coral rollover crash sends man to hospital, child injured

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – A man was rushed to the hospital after flipping his SUV on Hancock Bridge Parkway Wednesday afternoon. The man was driving east on Hancock with a juvenile passenger when he went to change lanes, hitting a van, according to Cape Coral police. The man lost control of his SUV, hit the median, flipped the SUV, then hit a tree, traveling into oncoming traffic, police said. The driver is facing life-threatening injuries.
