FORT MYERS, Fla. – A man was taken into custody after leading Fort Myers police on a chase through a canal off of Marion Street near Shady Oaks Park on Friday. The Fort Myers Police Department said the man robbed several homes Friday morning off of Palm Beach Boulevard. Lee County deputies helped officers catch the suspect using drones in the area. No other information was immediately available on the suspect.

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Blue-green algae was found at Franklin Locks on the Caloosahatchee River, according to health officials. The Florida Department of Health in Lee County has issued a Health Alert for the harmful blue-green agal toxins detected in the area. A water sample taken on June 1 found the toxins. A lot of kids who rely on free lunches during the school year will now be at home, sometimes unsure when their next meal will be. To help alleviate hunger in the community, the Iona-McGregor Fire District has teamed up with the Gladiolus Food Pantry to help reel in food donations.
