Florida inmate says he killed 6 in Pennsylvania in 1970s

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — An inmate serving life in Florida has confessed to killing six people in Pennsylvania in the 1970s, state police said Wednesday. Pennsylvania State Police investigators obtained the confessions in March from Edward A. Surratt at a state prison in Raiford, Florida, the agency announced. Surratt, now 79, a truck driver and former resident of Aliquippa, implicated himself in four cases — the 1977 slayings of William and Nancy Adams in Beaver County, Guy and Laura Mills near Bedford and Joel Krueger near McConnellsburg and the 1978 death of John Shelkons in Beaver County....

Lehigh fire officials offer free smoke alarms for senior residents

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District has set aside free smoke alarms in an effort to help out its senior citizens. Fire officials said senior resident’s that don’t have a working smoke alarm system in their home can contact their safety team to set up a system for free. Residents can call (239) 303 5335. JBS cyberattack not impacting ability to buy beef, pork locally

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – The JBS cyberattack hasn’t impacted local residents ability to buy beef or pork in Southwest Florida. Cape Coral police warn of scammer offering to replace LCEC power meters

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – A scammer claiming to represent “Atlantic Key Energy” has been going up to homeowners in Cape Coral. The Cape Coral Police Department said the scammer is targeting people in-person rather than over the phone. They have said to homeowners that Lee County Electric Cooperative will replace their power meter and install solar panels on their house within a month. FWC searching for three men who killed large Tarpon

KEY LARGO, Fla.– The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is searching for three men who removed killed a Tarpon. On March 15, the three grabbed the fish out of the water and killed it at the Calusa Campground, according to FWC. Tarpons should remain in the water unless an angler is trying for a record using a Tarpon tag. Man attacks woman, two girls in Cape Coral road rage incident

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Officers are searching for a man who attacked a woman and two girls in a Cape Coral road rage incident. The Cape Coral Police Department said the man beat up the three females and tried pulling them from their car after stopping in a parking lot. The road rage incident happened near the 1100 block of Del Prado Boulevard South. Two of the victims in the other car have minor injuries after the incident, according to Cape Coral police.
