Family loses home in massive Golden Gate Estates brush fire

GOLDEN GATE ESTATES, Fla. – A family is heartbroken and restless, following the aftermath of a brush fire that ignited on 14th Avenue near DeSoto Boulevard Saturday afternoon. “This is what we’re left with, nothing! Fire crews respond to three brush fires in Lehigh Acres

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – Firefighters responded to three separate brush fires in Lehigh Acres Sunday. According to the Lehigh Acres Fire Control and Rescue District, crews responded to brush fires at 7753 3rd Place & Wheeler Rd. near the Hendry County line, another at 68th Street W and Joan Ave., and a third at Unice Ave. N and 7th St. Firefighters said the brush fire on Wheeler Rd. burned around 12-acres of land total and destroyed a shed, but crews were able to protect 12 homes in the area. Lee County deputy saves sea turtle suffering from red tide

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A Lee County deputy came to the rescue of an endangered sea turtle after he saw the animal in “obvious distress.” Lee County Sheriff’s Office According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Kyle Hargis sprang into action after a lieutenant noticed the turtle having trouble in the water near the area of Coon Key. Golden Gate Estates brush fire reaches 1,200 acres as crews battle the blaze

GOLDEN GATE ESTATES, Fla. – The brush fire in Golden Gate Estates reached 1,200 acres and is 20% contained as of Sunday morning as fire crews continue to extinguish the flames. Officials with the Florida Forestry Service said one home was completely destroyed by the fire and three others were damaged. The brush fire ignited on 14th Avenue near DeSoto Boulevard Saturday afternoon. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office is leading voluntary evacuation efforts in the area.
