LEE COUNTY, Fla. – A child was taken to the hospital after being hit by a car on Eighth Avenue in Pine Manor Thursday. Florida Highway Patrol confirmed the child was seriously injured. Gateway home fire sparked by child playing with lighter & rubbing alcohol

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Crews confirmed that the Gateway home fire was intentionally started by a child flown to a Tampa burn center on Thursday. The child started the fire with a lighter and rubbing alcohol in the bathroom of a home on Lake Meadow Drive in Gateway, according to South Trail Fire Department. The fire is not considered arson. LaBelle City Hall closes after staff member tests positive for COVID-19

LABELLE, Fla. – LaBelle City Hall closed Thursday after a staff member tested positive for COVID-19. City Hall closed out of an abundance of caution at around 12 p.m., LaBelle’s City FInance Director Ron Zimmerly confirmed. The city said they will open back up on Monday, May 24. Blue-green algae detected at two boat ramps on the Caloosahatchee

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Blue-green algae toxins have been detected at the Alva and Davis Boat Ramp’s on the Caloosahatchee River. The Florida Department of Health in Lee County has issued a health alert for those areas based on reports of algae toxins found by the boat ramps. Man steals credit card, spends $1,400 in Lee County stores

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. – A man stole someone’s credit card and spent over $1,400 at a local gas station and Walmart on Wednesday. Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers said they are looking for the man involved in the credit card fraud and grant theft case. The suspect stole the victim’s credit card at an Olive Garden in Cape Coral. Crime Stoppers said fraudulent transactions were made at RaceTrac in North Fort Myers and the Walmart on Lee Boulevard in Lehigh Acres. FORT MYERS, Fla. — The algae situation in Southwest Florida is getting worse as a bloom decays in the Caloosahatchee River. Algae first appeared in Lake Okeechobee, then at Franklin lock, the Alva Boat Ramp, and now its in Fort Myers at the Davis Boat Ramp. Flames tear through home, cause brush fire in Punta Gorda

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — Firefighters rushed to a home that was engulfed in flames on Austrian Boulevard Wednesday night, officials said. Firework starts blaze in Cape Coral neighborhood

CAPE CORAL, Fla.– A lit firework was thrown from a vehicle driving in a Cape Coral neighborhood.
