MARATHON, Fla. [WFLA] – A message in a bottle claiming to be sent from Myrtle Beach and dated back to 1987 was found on in Marathon, Florida on Monday. As it turns out, the message wasn’t from Myrtle Beach or from 1987, but was the project of a young prankster. Lee County vaccinations starting back up at Edison Mall

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Vaccinations are starting back up in Lee County today, June 3. People who made an appointment to get their first or second doses of the coronavirus vaccine will get their shot at Edison Mall. Vaccinations will be administered at the Edison Mall location through Friday, June 18. Local health officials said the vaccine is working and don’t expect to see a spike in cases like last year. Animal Control in LaBelle reduces services until next week

LABELLE, Fla. – Animal Control in LaBelle is reducing their services until next week and said residents should not bring animals their way. The facility located off of Rodeo Drive in LaBelle. City officials said they’re restricting services due to shortages on staff. Shelter operators said one employee recently underwent back surgery while the other is on vacation. Abandoned dogs found near Clewiston canal with zip ties on their tails

CLEWISTON, Fla.– A good Samaritan makes a disturbing discovery in Clewiston after finding five dogs abandoned near a canal on Wednesday morning. Jamie Wright and Amanda Nelson, who work for the Clewiston Animal Control, said they rushed to Evergreen and Art Lawrence roads in a rural part of Clewiston searching for the puppies. “They dumped a bag of puppy chow and that was it. Orlando International Airport welcomes first transatlantic flight since pandemic

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP)– Florida’s busiest airport has started offering transatlantic flights again for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic. A flight from Frankfurt, Germany was set to land at the Orlando International Airport on Wednesday evening. Estero looks to crack down on panhandling with new pedestrian safety ordinance

ESTERO, Fla. – The Village of Estero is looking to join Lee County and Bonita Springs in passing a pedestrian safety ordinance that would crack down on panhandling. The ordinance would be nearly identical to ones passed in Lee County and Bonita Springs. It would ban people from lingering in medians and crosswalks. Florida inmate says he killed 6 in Pennsylvania in 1970s

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — An inmate serving life in Florida has confessed to killing six people in Pennsylvania in the 1970s, state police said Wednesday. Pennsylvania State Police investigators obtained the confessions in March from Edward A. Surratt at a state prison in Raiford, Florida, the agency announced.
