FORT MYERS, Fla. — Gas prices in Florida on Memorial Day averages $2.86 per gallon. Although the state average was higher than the last two years, it was 5 cents less than what drivers paid in Florida during the 2018 holiday weekend. FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. — A car that slammed into a fire hydrant caused a major water leak on Fort Myers Beach on Memorial Day, officials said. FORT MYERS, Fla. — A man was shot and killed inside a car off of Royal Palm Avenue in Fort Myers just after midnight on Tuesday, officials said. Shot spotters in the area detected a gunshot in the area of Franklin Street and Central Avenue, police with the Fort Myers Police Department said. Officers are investigating at 2475 Central Avenue.
