Blue-green algae toxins found in West Palm Beach drinking water

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Blue-green algae toxins were detected in the drinking water from the City of West Palm Beach’s Water Treatment Plant. City officials said they issued a driving water advisory after they found Cylindrospermopsin, a toxin produced by cyanobacteria which is also known as blue-green algae. Teen involved in crash that killed Fort Myers HS alum has license suspended

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A Tallahassee teen involved in a Halloween crash that killed a Fort Myers High School alum will have his license suspended for two years. Ian Eyler, the teen involved in the crash, will also have to go through a driver improvement class and complete 120 hours of community service, according to court documents. Man in custody after shooting at Charlotte County RV park

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. – A man is in custody after a shooting at a Charlotte County RV park early Saturday morning. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said James W. Grisham was placed in cuffs after they responded to the shooting at Harbor Lakes RV Resort, 3737 El Jobean Road. The gunshot call came in at 12:06 a.m. Two citizens in the RV park who saw Grisham with a gun held him down until Charlotte County deputies arrived on scene. Clewiston High School teacher’s discovery leads to fitting memorial for fallen hero

CLEWISTON, Fla. – Crystal Drake was working as a substitute teacher inside a classroom at Clewiston High School when an old plaque caught her attention.  The plaque was a memorial for Lee Ford, who graduated from the school in 1966. Red tide loses intensity as it lingers off SWFL’s coast

COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. – Red tide is lingering off the Southwest Florida coast, but the toxic water is losing intensity.  The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has reported low to medium concentrations from Collier County north to Charlotte County.
