Two green sea turtles released after recovering from red tide poisoning

SANIBEL, Fla. – Two juvenile green sea turtles have been recovering at a local wildlife hospital over the past few weeks. The turtles were rescued near Everglades City with suspected red tide poisoning, according to the Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation. The turtles were released back into the water. SCCF said its monitoring five green sea turtle nests on Sanibel and 330 loggerhead nests on both islands. To be called a force of nature means that one is full of energy, unstoppable or unforgettable. So the same can be said for “Farce of Nature”, the laugh out loud farce written by Nicholas Hope, Jessie Jones and Jamie Wooten. The hilarious romp is playing out on the Off Broadway Palm stage and it takes place inside the lobby of an old fishing lodge in the Ozark Mountains, of Arkansas (or Mississippi?) to borrow a common line from the show. Four rescued from boat hanging over dam in Texas reservoir

NBC NEWS — Four were rescued from a boat that was caught partially hanging over a dam in a Texas reservoir on Thursday. Blue-green algae found at Franklin Locks, health alert issued

ALVA, Fla. — Toxic blue-green algae has been detected in the water of the Franklin Locks and local officials have issued a health alert. A sample of water taken from the Franklin Locks on June 7 came back positive for blue-green algae. Blue-green algae are a type of bacteria that can be found in Florida’s freshwater environments. The algae blooms can spread rapidly and will discolor water and even produce floating mats that smell foul. FOOTAGE: Casual candle thieves nab $1,200 in merchandise
